"Packing up a household and moving across the country away from family and friends is always hard, but doing so with a six week old baby is insane! I knew I needed to find myself a network of other moms to help me through it all and Stroller Strides sounded perfect when I read about it online. I really expected the class to be a lot of walking and talking with a bit of light toning and abs to round it out. What I found instead was a serious workout, most of which I couldn't even begin to do that first class. I still remember the sensation of trying to do an ab exercise that first day...I concentrated, tightened the right muscles, and ... nothing happened. I simply had no strength! Fast forward six months and I feel like a different person. I have friends who I'm excited to see each day and I'm beginning to feel like my old strong self! The Fall into Fitness Challenge was so much fun because I really got to see and measure my progress. While I improved in all the assessments, I'm proudest of my running mile time. I've never been a runner, so going from 14:09 minute mile to 10:40 in 3 months is just amazing to me.
Stroller Strides is more than just a workout though, it changes the tone of the entire day. I have more patience and energy to deal with whatever parenting challenge Irene throws at me. By taking Irene out in the mornings, I learned that a lot of her fussiness was simply boredom; that even when she's screaming at home, I can take her out and she'll behave fine. That single revelation made my life so much better, I can't even begin to express it. So, thank you to all the other moms who make me feel so much less alone, thank you to the instructors for always keeping me challenged, and thank you to Stroller Strides for providing the platform for so much good!" ~ Kristen Wagner
